What is Cosmelan Peel?
Cosmelan is a product that can treat all types of pigmentation such as melasma, post-inflammatory pigmentation, solar and senile lentigo (age spots) and freckles. Cosmelan is a peel procedure to reduce surface pigment followed by a special skincare regime to reduce pigment over three months.
The Kit includes:
- Cosmelan 1: intensive depigmenting face mask.
- Cosmelan 2: home depigmenting cream that intensifies the results of Cosmelan 1, keeping melanin production under control and preventing the appearance of new skin spots.
- Melan recovery: balm with soothing and restoring effect for sensitive and reddened skin. It helps soothe and restore the skin’s balance and comfort during the Cosmelan treatment.
- Melan 130 pigment control: sunscreen with color that helps control pigmentation. It protects the skin from broad-spectrum solar radiation and helps control skin pigmentation.

The Cosemlan Peel Kit is $750.
Is there any prep for this treatment?
You cannot use glycolic products for at least one week prior to your first Cosmelan treatment. You cannot combine other topical treatments with Cosmelan.
How long will the appointment take?
The appointment is approximately 30 minutes long. The provider will discuss treatment and at-home instructions for the following 3 months, then apply the peel which will remain on for approximately 8 hours, plan accordingly for the rest of your day. We suggested a day at home!
Is there downtime or recovery with this treatment?
Cosmelan MD will cause noticeable peeling and redness in the first two weeks.
Who should not have Cosmelan?
You should not have Cosmelan if you are pregnant or planning on getting pregnant; breastfeeding; allergic to any component of Cosmelan; on antibiotics, isotretinoin or hydroquinone; have a skin infection; or have recently had a peel or IPL/laser treatment in the area.
Are there any products that I should be using?
Yes, ONLY using the products provided with your Cosmelan kit, instead of your usual skincare regime for the next 3 months. Using this homecare daily is essential for long term pigment reduction.
